The global reparations movement lacks a unified narrative that resonates across the African diaspora. While grassroots activism thrives in the U.S., there remains a disconnect between African and diaspora communities. FORGE aimed to bridge this gap by convening artists, cultural workers, and movement leaders in Accra, Ghana, to co-create new storytelling frameworks for reparatory justice.
(approach)
We co-designed an immersive four-day gathering that blended cultural heritage, speculative design, and creative collaboration. FORGE provided space for artists to experiment, reflect, and engage with local history while contributing perspective to the #WeDeyRise Africans Rising for Reparations campaign.
(RESULTS)
FORGE strengthened cross-sector solidarity, resulting in a collective statement of commitment, a creative exhibition, and a dynamic network that will fuel future storytelling and advocacy efforts.
