Axle Impact Studio and Journey Foods collaborated on a one-off creative study examining the history and sustainability of state-sponsored brands, focusing on Georgia’s identity as the “Peach State.” The project aimed to uncover the overlooked, often troubling history behind this branding while exploring its agricultural and cultural significance today.
(approach)
Through research, storytelling, and community dialogue, we examined how state-sponsored brands shape public perception and economic narratives. The study culminated in a living exhibit that engaged audiences in critical conversations about agriculture, sustainability, and cultural memory.
(RESULTS)
The project informed the approach and fundraising strategy for an interactive exhibit that recontextualized Georgia’s association with the peach. All vendors—culinary, venue, photography, and set design—were sourced from women- and Black-owned businesses, reinforcing the project’s commitment to equity.
